Mälarenergi works smarter with Elsmart from Powel

Mälarenergi Elnät AB has entered into an agreement with Powel to deliver Powel Elsmart, a standardized IT-platform capable of information exchange and messaging.

This platform is delivered in a way that is optimized for electric utilities that service the electrical grid and provide power to consumers. Powel will provide Mälarenergi with all services relating to application management, as well as development, implementation, integration and support of the products and services provided. As a first step Mälarenergi will integrate Elsmart into its internal systems and databases. At a later stage, Elsmart will be integrated into its customer information systems that manage customer data and the electrical grid. Uniquely, Powel is the only solution provider in Sweden capable of providing an off-the-shelf product for the optimized management of both internal and external business processes for the energy sector.

 

A clear overview with Elsmart
In addition to integrating Powel Elsmart into key service processes, Mälarenergi will implement Powel MDMS, Powel Elin and Powel BPM which is powered by Cordys. In the short term, Mälarenergi will use Elsmart for all processes relating to grid reports. However, over the long term, Elsmart will be used to handle processes such as work orders connected to the Meter Data Management of Mälarenergi.

"Elsmart provides us with a standardized system that delivers a clear overview of what is going on with all new connections to the grid. Besides keeping track of new connections, the system will also help us communicate effectively with the actual crews that are on site to install the connection. Operating in a regulated business sector means that companies must conform to new rules and regulations that come into force. Powel Elsmart will help us to adapt and easily conform to those regulations. We will be testing and developing new functionality within Elsmart together with Powel and our aim is to replace our current internally developed systems during this coming Autumn" stated Jonas Persson, Head of Marketing, Mälarenergi Elnät.

Furthering our cooperation
Powel will apply application management principles and take on the responsibility of providing all products and services in a way that enables Powel and Mälarenergi to go forward and progress together.
