Major investments in agriculture

Norwegian farmers spent NOK 8.5 billion (more than USD 1.2 billion) on new farm machinery and farm buildings last year, according to the newspaper Nationen.

Apart from the record year of 2008, it is more than 20 years since the investments in Norwegian farm industry was higher.

Around half of last year's investments went to buy tractors and other farm maachinery.
