Magnetic Emission Control Technology Passes Rigorous SAE J1321 Test in the United States

Magnetic Emission Control AS (MEC AS) of Norway today announced that it had recently successfully passed the rigorous SAE J1321 Fuel Consumption and Efficiency Test in the United States. “This is a huge milestone for MEC AS and represents a major breakthrough for MEC’s unique fuel savings technology,” said Bjorn Skjervold, MEC AS’s CEO.

The J1321 Test was developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and is widely recognized by industry and government. The SAE J1321 recommended practice provides a standardized test procedure for comparing the in service fuel consumption of two conditions of a test vehicle, or one test vehicle to another when it is not possible to run the two or more test vehicles simultaneously. MEC AS officials in Norway have received a detailed report concerning the successful completion of the test.

The SAE J1321 Test shows that MEC’s technology provided fuel savings of at least 2.6%. An earlier recent “Engine-Dynamometer Test” at Auburn University showed an 11.5-20% increase in fuel efficiency with MEC’s technology. “Reading the two tests together, we see that fuel efficiency increases the longer the vehicle is driven,” said Skjervold. “In 2004, AVL MTC Motortestcenter AB conducted a test in Europe and produced similar results. The successful SAE J1321 Test and Auburn University test are more recent validations of the European data we already had for the US Market.”

Currently, MEC AS has over 14,000 satisfied customers in Europe with its retrofit kits. However, MEC officials believe that the biggest opportunity for increased fuel efficiency and reducing carbon emissions is with combustion engine manufacturers who can now incorporate the MEC technology into their manufacturing process.
