Kongsbergs Maritime opens new office in Kuala Lumpur

Asian sales growth for Simrad fishery products leads to new local office.

Kongsberg Maritime, the manufacturer and owner of world renowned professional fish finding and fishery research systems brand, Simrad, has opened a new office in Kuala Lumpur in order to meet the growing demand for Simrad products within the region’s commercial fishery sector.

The new office, which became officially operational on January 1st 2012, is part of a Kongsberg Maritime fishery strategy started in 2009 to expand sales potential of Simrad professional fish finding and trawl monitoring systems in the Asian region.

The board, which met for the first time on December 6th 2011, consists of Olav Vittersø (Chairman), Stene Førsund and Brian Jørgensen (Managing Director, Kongsberg Maritime Malaysia).

“With continuing sales growth in Asia, it has become important for us to have a local presence in the region to ensure strong customer service,” comments Mads Dahl, Sales & Marketing Director, Kongsberg Maritime Fishery. “Our new office will enable us to address the market directly and to support the expanding customer base that we have built in the last two years.”

The new 300m2 office is located in the ‘Mid Valley’ area of Kuala Lumpur, which is approximately one hour drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). It is the Asian hub for sales and service of Simrad branded products and will also act as a regional office for other Kongsberg Maritime sales and service activity.

Facilities include two meeting rooms that will also be used for training seminars, a technical area where experienced engineers will service customer systems and a substantial spare parts storage area that will significantly enhance service turn-around for Asian customers.
