It’s #10 for Opera TV Store

Less than two years after the market launch of the Opera TV Store, Opera Software is excited to announce just in time for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that the Opera TV Store has added a milestone tenth company, Samsung, to its list of global customers. This addition brings millions of new viewers to the app platform’s already massive audience.

The Opera TV Store debuted in March 2012 on Sony Bravia TVs and Blu-ray Disc players and has since shipped on a host of TiVo, TCL and Hisense devices. Agreements have also been announced with MediaTek, Humax, Changhong, Konka and Amino, and, last week, major electronics brand Samsung rounded off the list of 10 with the addition of the Opera TV Store to selected Blu-ray Disc players.

The HTML5-based Opera TV Store offers hundreds of entertaining apps from leading content owners, spanning video, music, games, social media, news and utilities. It now ships on tens of millions of devices worldwide.

Simplicity is a key factor in customers choosing the Opera TV Store. Not only does the cloud-based app storefront guarantee ease of deployment for electronics manufacturers and pay-TV operators, but also it offers brands and content owners the easiest and fastest way to reach millions of Smart TV viewers, with innovations such as the Opera TV Snap app generator.

“The Opera TV Store is a win for consumers, manufacturers, operators, brands and content owners. We are delighted that so many key players in the Smart TV industry have selected the Opera TV Store solution to deliver a premium app experience to their viewers," says Aneesh Rajaram, Senior Vice-President for TV & Devices, Opera Software. "Opera has designed and continues to evolve a product that is easy to use and simple to deploy - and which truly encourages mass viewer adoption of web content in the living room."

The Opera TV product portfolio consists of more than just the Opera TV Store, with the Opera Devices Software Development Kit (SDK) and Opera TV browser powering the web experience on devices from more than 50 customers, including Philips, Sharp, Loewe, Vestel and Altech.

During CES in Las Vegas, Opera Software will showcase its Opera TV Snap technology for brands and content owners, as well as how apps can interact with live broadcast. The latest Opera Devices SDK, the first commercial-grade Chromium/Blink-based engine for connected TV, will also take centerstage at CES.

Come and meet Opera Software at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, from January 7 to 10. Visit us in South Hall S2, Lower Level, #MP25070, at the CES Meeting Place. To arrange a commercial or media meeting, contact zlauder [at] opera.com.
