INTSOK reports: PEMEX director resigns

The director of the exploration and production division of PEMEX resigned Friday February 7, and the deputy director, Gustavo Hernandez, was tapped to take over as the oil-and-gas monopoly gears up to face private competition for the first time in 75 years. 

 

In their latest newsletter, 11.02.14, INTSOK reports that the director of PEMEX has resigned.

Gustavo Hernandez joined Pemex in 1992 and has held several positions as head of the department of reservoir characterization, exploitation vice manager, planning manager, asset manager, and vice president of the offshore region.

The replacement of Director is considered a change of "guards" in Pemex now that the energy overhaul has passed. Mexico is an extremely attractive oil patch for foreigners and they are now expecting an influx of private capital, technology and technical expertise.
