Autonomy in the oil and gas industry

Autnomous systems enable new solutions for the oil- and gas industry, in particular for subsea developments and fields far from shore.

The Norwegian Society of Automatic Control (NFA) has in collaboration with Statoil, FMC Technologies, SINTEF, Computas and Alfatroll prepared a document that discusses definitions of autonomy, existing solutions, and future autonomous systems. Computas has contributed expertise in technology for autonomy, including artificial intelligence and agent systems, and has also served as editor of the report.

The document was first presented at NFA’s conference “Autonomy in Oil & Gas" in Stavanger in March 2013 and can be read here:
