The decision support system AkvaVis was presented in Portugal for 1000 experts from all around the world.

Focus on decision support systems and virtual tools at Aquaculture Europe 2010 conference in Porto, Portugal last week. Development of decision support systems and virtual tools for the aquaculture business and management was presented and debated. The key speaker João G. Ferreira (FCT) gave a presentation on “Virtual Tools for Aquaculture” (http://ecowin.org/AE2010). He used AkvaVis from CMR as an example as a novel management approach. AkvaVis was after that presented during the session “Space for aquaculture” by Anne A. Hageberg (CMR).

In addition to the conference there was a workshop previous for the conference to discuss the theme and work on a strategy to promote this as a research area in EU’s research programme FP7. AkvaVis so far has a cooperation with Ifremer in France, but plans for a project with Irland and Spain last year did not succeed getting funded.
