65.000 nye jobber i subsea innen 7 år

A recent report from Rystad Energy, prepared for Underwater Technology Foundation and UTC 2013 in Bergen, states that the number of people working in the subsea industry will increase from 92,000 to a staggering 157,000 by 2020.

Oil industry analysis Jarand Rystad presented the findings last week at UTC in Bergen, Norway. He emphasized that the increase will mainly be due to investments and product developments in the sector. Leaders in the industry are reporting a similar trend to Rystad.

“The growth is definatly something the industry can handle,” states Rystad, “but it is time to think outside the box”.

The report is built on 50 interviews with key companies in the industry. The findings concluded that the challenge is not recruiting young, educated individuals, but rather experienced men and women in their forties. Many in this age group has left the industry and never come back. Rystad thinks companies do wisely in looking to other industry to recruit this age group, such as the car and aviation sectors.
