Nine new Centres for Research-based Innovation launched

The two Trondheim-based institutions recently opened the nine new centres formally. Click for more information about SFI centres at NTNU and SINTEF , respectively (partly in Norwegian).

A well-established, beneficial scheme

The new centres in Trondheim are part of the third generation of Norwegian SFIs. In all, the Research Council has allocated close to NOK 1.6 billion to the 17 new centres granted SFI status in the most recent funding round.

One objective of the centre scheme is to enhance the capability of the business sector to innovate by focusing on long-term research based on forging close alliances between enterprises and research groups.
