The Johan Sverdrup oil discovery delineated

Lundin has completed drilling of appraisal well 16/3-6 on the oil discovery 16/2-6 Johan Sverdrup in the North Sea, and proven an oil column of 11.5 metres.

The reservoir came in at the expected depth with a gross thickness of 24 metres and with very good properties. The reservoir is from the Late Jurassic and is located directly on the basement rock. An oil column of 11.5 metres was proven with an oil/water contact at 1926 metres below sea level.

This is the fifteenth appraisal well, including sidetracks, drilled in production licence 501, which was awarded on 23 January 2009 in APA 2008.
