Opening process for the Barents Sea – Impact assessment submitted for consultation

The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has submitted the impact assessment for petroleum activity in the south-eastern part of the Barents Sea for consultation.

For the next three months it will be possible to comment on the technical work carried out.

The impact assessment is a part of the opening process for the south-eastern part of the Barents Sea. Geological mapping will also be carried out. Assuming the impact assessment provides a basis for it, the Government will submit a Storting White Paper which recommends opening the area for petroleum activity.
