Oil discovery north of the Grane field

Statoil is about to complete drilling of wildcat well 25/11-27. The well proved oil.

The well was drilled within licence 169 B2 about seven kilometres north of the Grane field in the central part of the North Sea, and about 150 kilometres west of Stavanger.

The well encountered an oil column of about 20 metres in the Heimdal formation. Preliminary estimates of the size of the discovery are between 2.8 and 5.2 million standard cubic metres (Sm3) of recoverable oil.
