Norwegian Minister of Transport and Communications Marit Arnstad will meet colleagues from Russia, Sweden and Finland to discuss the development of the transport system in the Barents Region. A proposal for a Joint Barents Transport Plan will be presented at the meeting.

- The transport system in the Barents region is in need of improvement in order to support transport needs for people and industry. I look forward to receive the proposal for the first Joint Barents Transport Plan in history, says Minister of Transport and Communications Marit Arnstad.

The idea behind the joint plan is to establish a better foundation and a common platform for development of the transport system across the borders in the North.

The proposal now ready to be presented, is made by an expert working group, lead by Norway, with representatives from the transport authorities in Sweden, Finland and Russia.

The expert working group will also present recommendations for measures for improvement of the transport system in the Barents region.
