In August, the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE) and the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate launched an app for mobile phones. As of 1 December, the app had been downloaded by 5209 people.

For starters, the app was launched for iPhone and iPad. It can be downloaded for free in App Store via www.oilfacts.no

Versions for Android (download from Play Store) and Windows phone (download from Marketplace) will be launched in December.

The app is based on data from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate's FactPages and FactMap, and provides information about fields, production licences, companies, production and active exploration wells, as well as news from the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy and the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

The map function shows fields and active exploration wells, all linked to relevant background information. Users can also access the incorporated search function.

The app also contains an analysis function where you can filter and sort data, and then save them as personal favourites for easy updates later. You can also generate graphs in the analysis function.

You can choose between Norwegian and English versions. The app was developed in cooperation with Applaud.
