Dry well near the Valhall field

Faroe Petroleum, operator of production licence 440 S, is about to complete the drilling of wildcat well 2/8-18 S. The well is dry.

 

The drilling took place ten kilometres north of the Valhall field in the southern part of the North Sea.

The well encountered reservoir rocks as expected in the Shetland group. The reservoir rocks were poorer than expected. The well is dry. Data acquisition and sampling have been carried out.

The well will now be permanently plugged and abandoned.
