Yesterday, Aspaker met with industry organisation for a debate about the Russian ban on Norwegian seafood and possible measures that could ease the potential difficulty faced by the sector.
– With our close proximity to Russia, Norway is particularly invested in the strong front that the international society is showing against Russia’s misuse of power. I note that the seafood industry also supports the government’s stance, says Aspaker.
Some of the measures put in place:
- Increased funding for the marketing of salmon, trout and pelagic fish, implemented by the Norwegian Seafood Council.
- Norway has started negotiations with the Faroe Islands to phase out their export fee of 2 DKK pr. Kg. herring and mackerel upon arrival in Norway.
- Initiative has been taken to strengthen the veterinary cooperation between Norway and Ukraine.
