Nor-Shipping 2001 Trade Fair: A Dynamic Forum

A weeklong event held biennially in Oslo, Nor-Shipping is the world's largest trade fair and conference for the shipping industry.

Norway is home to one of the most comprehensive shipping clusters in the world, so it should come as no surprise that Nor-Shipping is renowned as the principal meeting place for the international shipping community. The trade fair offers an important venue for introducing new products and services, creating new contacts and renewing former acquaintances.

Nor-Shipping provides a unique foundation for professional interaction with key players and decision-makers. In 1999, some 14,500 industry professionals from over 70 countries were in attendance, and were able to view and make contact with more than 1,300 companies from some 50 nations represented at over 650 stands and 20 national pavilions.

Eight out of ten visitors were drawn from the ranks of top and middle management, and more than half were key purchasing and policy decision-makers. The arrangers expect attendance at the 2001 trade fair to break previous records as the three previous events have done. There is also a long waiting list of potential exhibitors.

Exhibits at Nor-Shipping cover all aspects of the maritime sector, including:

o Ship design, development and construction

o Ship repair, conversion and modification

o Ship’s gear, ranging from main machinery and deck equipment to safety equipment and maintenance products

o Ship’s fittings

o ICT, including marine electronics, satellite communications, navigation and positioning systems, and maritime management software and hardware

o Classification and financial services
