Fish Health Specialist

The Global R&D and Technical Department is MH’s central Department for Research and Technical development. The department supports Marine Harvest’s operational units in knowledge development and best practice recommendations for operations to run according to the sustainability ambitions of Marine Harvest, taking care of fish health and welfare and supplying healthy, safe and delicious seafood. The department has 15 technical experts within the area of biology, technology, nutrition, genetics and veterinary medicine. The department is responsible for genetics, fish health and welfare, feed and fish performance, food safety and product quality,  environment and sustainability, and technology development.

Fish Health Specialist

The position

We are looking for a systematic and enthusiastic technically skilled person who wants to play a key role in our company. Reporting to the Group Manager for Fish health and Welfare you will be responsible for fish health research activities and contributing to reaching the strategic goals of the company and the Department. You will be part of a passionate and dedicated team that drives innovation and change within the industry.  

Key responsibilities

  • Drive knowledge generation and development of better practices
  • Plan, manage and report on key projects
  • Develop recommendations and support implementation of results
  • Maintain strong internal and external networks
  • Develop new ideas and approaches in a positive working environment.

Required competence and experience

  • Masters degree or equivalent in fish health biology, veterinary medicine or aquatic sciences
  • Strong and practical knowledge of salmon diseases and health management
  • Project management experience, analytical skills and ability to work with operations and scientific partners
  • Ability to integrate research and technical knowledge into operational activities
  • Self-motivated and result oriented
  • Proficiency with standard IT / software systems
  • Fluent in English and preferably Norwegian

You should be able to start as soon as possible and willingness to travel is a pre-requisite. The position will be based in Bergen.
