PhD position in research on multiple myeloma

Department of Cancer Research and Molecular Medicine aims at carrying out high quality research, supervision and teaching for better health. The project will be carried out within the KG Jebsen Center for Myeloma Research. The research in the Center is oriented towards techniques for better classification of multiple myeloma based on the properties of the primary myeloma cells as well as the basic mechanisms behind survival of myeloma cells and for the bone disease of multiple myeloma. 

The project will apply a specter of modern cell and molecular biology techniques. The PhD position will be of 3 years duration. The PhD project will be focused on growth control and survival mechanisms of myeloma cells, and in particular on the roles of the phosphatase PRL3. For the PhD position the applicants must
  • hold a master's degree or equivalent education in cell biology, biochemistry or medicine
  • have a strong academic record with a weighted average grade of master degree, or equivalent education, with a grade corresponding to B or higher in NTNU's grading system
  • speak and write English fluently and be willing to learn Norwegian
  • have experience with cell- and molecular biology techniques

Depending on qualifications and academic background, PhD candidates at the Faculty of Medicine will be remunerated at wage levels 50-62 on the Norwegian State salary scale, with gross salary from NOK 421 100 - NOK 518 500 a year, of which 2 % is deducted for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. Normal wage level is 50-58. A yearly amount for operating costs will be added. 

The appointment will be made in accordance with current regulations and supplementary rules with guidelines for employment as PhD candidate appointments at universities and university colleges.
